Built for London's Heavy Clay and Deep Frost
London's heavy clay soil presents unique challenges for retaining wall construction. The Thames River watershed's clay-rich earth retains water, creating hydrostatic pressure that can destroy improperly built walls. Combined with Ontario's 1.2 to 1.5 metre frost depth, foundations must be engineered to prevent frost heave and seasonal movement that plague many installations.
We've built walls across London neighbourhoods from Old North to Wortley Village, working directly with the City of London's Building Division for proper permits. Many 1970s-era walls in established areas like Byron and Westmount are now failing due to inadequate drainage and shallow footings that don't account for London's clay soil expansion and deep frost penetration.
